DIRK KOY

In 2002 Dirk Koy graduated from the Academy of Art and Design in Basel (HGK Basel) after completing a course in the field of Visual Communication.

From 2003 to 2005 he worked at KMS-Team Munich, in the graphics and moving image divisions. During this period his work included involvement in the development of the cross-media Corporate Design for Porsche Design, acclaimed by ADC Deutschland and with a red dot communication award.

In 2007 he is one of three co-founders of «Equipo», an office for visual communication. The sphere of activity of Equipo encompasses graphics, animation/video and interaction.

Over the course of recent years, Dirk Koy’s interest has concentrated on the field of moving image. For the Swiss TV show «Focus Blind Date» on SRF1 he designed animated Titles and biographies. The Work won bronze at the «Bassawards». He has created a number of animated music videos such as «The Time Tunnel» for the music legend «Boris Blank» (Yello) and «The City» for the band «Five Years Older», which has been shown around the world at numerous festivals. In 2012 «The City» was distinguished with an «Honorary Mention» at the «Prix Ars Electronica» and won the first prize at the Visual Music Award 2015. In 2016 he created animations for the Yello concert in Berlin.

Dirk Koy has also been working as a lecturer for Time Based Media (moving image) since 2011, at the Institute of Visual Communication of the HGK Basel.

In 2016 he founded the office «Dirk Koy Bild und Bewegung», which focus on Experimental Movie and Motion Graphics.
